Breaking: Federal Government Has Ordered The Release Of Sowore And Dasuki

The Federal Government Of Nigeria has ordered the immediate release of publisher/convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore and the former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federal (AGF), Abubakar Malami disclosed this today Tuesday 24th December 2019 in a press release.
The statement reads further
“The office of the Attorney General of the Federation has reviewed the pending criminal charges against the duo of Omoyele Sowore and Col Sambo Dasuki (Rtd)
While the Federal High Court has exercised its discretion in granting bail to the defendants in respect to the charges against them, I am also not unmindful of the right of the complainant/prosecution to appeal or further challenge the grant of bail by the court having regards to extent legal provisions, particularly Section 169 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
However, my office has chosen to comply with the court orders while considering the pursuit of its rights of appeal and/or review of the order relating to the bail as granted or varied by the courts.
“In line with the provisions of Sections 150(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), and in compliance with the bail granted to Omoyele Sowore as recently varied by the Court of Appeal) and the bail granted to Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd), I have directed the State Security Services to comply with the order granting bail to the Defendants and effect their release.
The two defendants are enjoined to observe the terms of their bail and refrain from engaging in any activity that is inimical to public peace and national security as well as their ongoing trial which will run its course in accordance with the laws of the land.
I wish to reiterate again the utmost regard of my office for the entire judicial structure of Nigeria.
This administration remains unrelenting in deepening the rule of law and the administration of justice in general.”
Omoyele Sowore was arrested in August 2019 and arraigned in court for cyberstalking President Buhari, money laundering and treason. He was granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja on the 24th of September. He was released on December 5th upon meeting his bail condition but rearrested on the 6th December inside the Federal High Court.
The former National Security Adviser, Dasuki was arraigned in court by the Buhari Government for allegedly masterminding arms deal worth $2 billion. He has however been in detention even after the court had granted him bail

MVP Award For The NBA All-Star Now To Be Called The Kobe Bryant MVP Award

February 16, 2020The NBA All-Star game has now to be called The Kobe Bryant MVP Award. NBA commissioner, Adam Silver made this announcement on Saturday 15th February.
The Kobe Bryant MVP Award will be given this Sunday at the closing of this year’s All-Star Game in Chicago. Both teams will be captained by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Lebron James respectively. Team Lebron will put on No 2 and team Giannis will put on No 24. These two numbers were worn by Gianna, Kobe’s daughter and Kobe Bryant.
Recall that Kobe won the All-Star Game MVP in 2002, 2007, 2009, and 2011. Also, he played as the youngest player to feature in the All-Star Game at 19 in 1998.
Modibbo Kawu, the DG of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has been put on suspension by President Buhari. This came following his corruption charges by the Independent Corrupt Practices, ICPC.
This development was confirmed by Armstrong Idachaba, NBC’s Director of Broadcast Monitoring. Further, the most senior director in the commission has been directed to take over from Modibbo Kawu.
Modibbo Kawu is currently facing a 12-count charge bordering on money laundering, abuse of office, and misleading a public officer with the intent of defrauding the government.
So, this contravenes Section 26 (1) (c) of the Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Act 2000 and punishable under Section 19 of the same Act.
Beisdes, Modibbo was first arraigned in May 2019 over the alleged misappropriation of N 2.5 billion for the digital switch-over (DSO) program of the government.

Coronavirus In Africa As Egypt Records The First Case

February 15, 2020The Health Ministry in Egypt has confirmed the first case of the deadly Coronavirus. The authorities made this disclosure on Friday 14th February in a press release. They said the World Health Organization has been informed and the patient is in isolation for monitoring and treatment.
The patient’s nationality was not given. However, Egypt is the 28th country in the world to record Coronavirus and the first in Africa.
So, over 64,000 cases of the Coronavirus have been diagnosed around the world and 1,363 persons have been confirmed dead since its outbreak in Wuhan, China
